Crying Lobster

When I was about twelve years old, I remember Mom, my cousins,  Aunt and Uncle and I all sharing an autumn evening at my Aunt and Uncles home in Lakewood, CA.  They had decided to have lobster for dinner one particular evening. They brought home these hard red shelled black eyed mongrels with antenna and set them lose on the kitchen floor with their claws rubber-banded.  I distinctly remember being completely freaked out by them after they informed us of how the lobsters cry out when you put them in the pot of boiling water.  So when they did, I really got sad for the poor bastards and committed not to eat them out of guilt for their tiny screams of agony. This is a shinning example of my mom and uncles relationship and sense of humor.
