Catherine Askew--Washington

Catherine Askew Washington was born May 16th, 1929 in Harlem New York, Catherine was an only child.
To William & Lydia Hunter. Catherine married three times she give birth to 4 children from her first
husband Mckinley Askew Sr. She give birth to 2 more children from her 2nd marriage to Silas Mike. Her
third marriage to Samuel Washington .
Catherine decided to go back to school to become a register nurse. She graduated in 1974 from Manhattan Community College with an AAS degree. She worked many years as a Medical Surgical Nurse.
After working several years in New York as a RN Catherine decided to relocate to California. Catherine
continued to work until she was 70 years of age when she retired.
Catherine was a born again Christian and had true faith in God and knew the word of God inside and
out. Catherine was an active member in her churches as a Sunday school teacher, choir, and a member
of the usher broad.
Catherine a soft spoken woman, always had kind words of encouragement. Catherine had a great sence
of humor and would find humor in situations surrounding her life.
Catherine leave behind to morn four children Mckinley Askew Jr., Lydia Jones, Jacqueline Askew and
David Askew. N'chelle Askew, Joyce Askew preceded her in death .. 8 Grand children Tracy Askew, Kelly
Robinson, Jeaunine Askew, Malik Askew, Kischa Askew, Steffany Jones, Tiffany Jones, BrittanyAskew. 7
