Everardo Rico Perez passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the young age of 66 years. He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and his best 4-legged friend, Porsche. Everardo was a quiet, kind man who loved his family and always put them before himself. He was a busy man, always tinkering about on his cars and his motor-home project. He drove his wife crazy with the purchasing of “new” projects, but it was his passion and therefore she accepted it every time. While doing these projects, he always had the company of his German Shepherd, Porsche. Porsche loved it when he was outside because that meant she would get to enjoy an occasional game of fetch with her rope toy or stuffed animal. He was her best friend and she was his.
Everardo also loved the Mojave Desert. He would take advantage of every opportunity to go off-roading and explore his surroundings in his jeep. He enjoyed the desert quietness, wildlife and the fresh air. That was his zen and he loved it. He would always come home happy and excited to share with us what new territory he found or what new historical site he came across. He loved to read, especially about history, so taking the road less traveled in this vast desert landscape was a big win for him in this department.
Our dad was a good man. He seemed quiet to most, but that was because he sat back, observed, and waited patiently for the perfect time to spark chatter about a funny story or to tell you about what he’s recently come across during his desert explorations. He was an open book and if you asked, he would tell you anything you wanted to hear about his life story and his life lessons, while making you laugh along the way. His family was his life and he always put our happiness and well-being before his.
Everardo, our mom’s husband, our dad, and our children’s grandpa was still so full of life, but he was needed too soon.
We miss him tremendously, but we hope that someday, we will get to be with him again.
